PDF Evaluating Creative Works of Adinkra Symbol in Relation to Maslow’s Theory

This study employed quantitative method to assess various creative works that utilize Adinkra symbols and find out if theusage of the symbol is in agreement with Hierarchy Needs Theory. The objectives are explore symbolismof through literature review analyse relationship between actual philosophical meanings ofAdinkra artist’s philosophy behind use these symbols. sampling used was Stratifiedsampling Random sampling. Sixty (60) were stratified into strata: Sculpture, Graphic design, Jewelryand Textile works. also sample 15 from total number ineach stratum. data collected “Pinterest” (online visual discovery tool). found 53% Adinkrasymbols properly relation functions product. However, 47% not agreementwith Maslow’s needs. In addition, most adinkra textiles jewelry basically for aestheticpurposes irrespective meaning symbol. textile products accounted highest percentage (55%) adinkrasymbols do conform Needs.
